TETfund approves five years vision plan

Executive Secretary Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETfund, Professor Suleiman Elias Bogoro has disclosed that the board of trustees of the fund had approved a five year ( 2014-2019) vision for

the fund to deepen its focus on academic content, quality and excellence.

Bogoro made the disclosure in a welcome address at the opening ceremony of a capacity building workshop on entrepreneur development in public tertiary institutions in Nigeria held yesterday at the Umaru Musa ‘Yar’adua University, Katsina.

He noted that in line with President Jonathan’s transformation agenda TETfund according to him would continue to play its role towards ensuring positive transformation in the education sector of the country.

According to him, in 2011 the president has approved the sum of N100 million for the establishment of entrepreneurship training centres in each Federal and state universities across the country, adding that when operational the centres would provide the needed platform foe lecturers, students and the public.

He therefore tasked the participants “as scholars you should be aware that global trend indicates that entrepreneurship has become a major component of economic growth. A developing country like Nigeria cannot afford to lag behind”.

Bogoro said the capacity building workshop was designed for those engaged in imparting knowledge of entrepreneurship in public tertiary institutions in Nigeria to enable them inculcate in their students the importance of entrepreneurship and capacity for wealth creation.

In a remark, the vice chancellor of Umaru Musa ‘Yar’adua University, Katsina, Professor Muuta Ibrahim commended TETfund for its entrepreneurship programme which he said would go a long way in preparing students to be self reliant.
