A sales girl, Miss Faith Onda, has appeared before a Grade 1 Area Court, Karu in Abuja, for allegedly stealing N40, 000 from her employer’s bag.
Her employer, a 30-year-old business woman, Mrs. Ebere Anih, who had accused a cobbler, later withdrew allegation of theft, and instead accused her sales girl.
Recanting the allegation before the court, Anih, a resident of Area C extension, Nyanya, said her sales girl, Miss Faith Onda, was the one that stole the said N40,000 from her bag.
“My Lord, though I brought the shoemaker that repaired my bag containing the money to this court, I now realised it was my sales girl that stole the money’,’’ she said.
The business woman said on May 20, 2013, she left her bag containing the said amount in the shop with her sales girl and went to ease herself.
She claimed that the zip of the bag was faulty and so she asked the sales girl to take it to the shoemaker to be fixed.
She also said that when the accused came back with the bag, the money was missing.
After cross examination by the prosecution and defence counsels, the presiding officer, Mr Ishaq Hassan, adjourned the matter until October 14, for further hearing. (NAN)
