The Grassroots Mobilisation Initiative has commended President Bola Tinubu and Nigeria’s security agencies for the successful rescue of the abducted students and a teacher from Oyo/Orire, describing the operation as evidence of effective leadership and professional security coordination.
In a statement issued on Monday, the National Coordinator of the group, Samaila Musa, praised the President for providing the strategic leadership that enabled security operatives to execute the rescue mission successfully.
He also applauded the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and the minister of defence, General Christopher Musa, for their leadership and oversight throughout the operation.
“We salute the gallant joint officers drawn from various security units who meticulously planned, strategised and put their lives on the line to ensure these citizens were brought home alive and unharmed,” Musa said.
The group cautioned against demanding real-time updates during sensitive security operations, insisting that intelligence-driven missions require confidentiality to succeed.
“Security is not a social media show. Effective governance and complex security intelligence are not conducted on the pages of newspapers or via social media trends.
“Demanding hourly operational updates on sensitive security matters does not show oversight; rather, it often endangers the lives of both the abductees and the troops on the frontlines. True intelligence thrives in confidentiality, and the success of this mission vindicates the disciplined, quiet professionalism maintained by our security agencies throughout this ordeal,” he stated.
Musa urged Nigerians to place national interest above partisan politics whenever security issues arise, stressing that collective support was essential to tackling insecurity.
He also challenged politicians, commentators and activists who criticised the Federal Government during the abduction to acknowledge the successful rescue and commend the administration.
“We challenge those politicians, commentators and activists who were at the forefront of criticising the Tinubu administration during the abduction to find that same energy to commend the government and our troops.
“In the spirit of true patriotism, criticism must be balanced with objective praise when the government delivers on its primary duty of protecting lives,” he said.
According to him, the successful rescue has strengthened public confidence in the Federal Government’s determination to combat banditry and terrorism, while reaffirming its commitment to dismantling criminal networks across the country.
The group congratulated the rescued students, their principal, teacher and families, praying for their speedy rehabilitation and return to normal life.
