The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) and Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) on Wednesday reaffirmed their partnership on local content development as the gas company’s Train 7 project approaches completion.
The renewed commitment was announced during a courtesy visit by NLNG’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Adeleye Falade, to the Executive Secretary of NCDMB, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, at the Board’s liaison office in Lagos.
Speaking during the meeting, Falade said the Train 7 project had reached 90 per cent completion, with pre-commissioning activities already underway. He added that the facility is expected to be commissioned in 2027 and would increase NLNG’s production capacity by 35 per cent.
He also said the project had generated about 16,000 direct jobs during its construction phase.
Falade noted that NLNG would continue to engage with the Board on issues relating to Nigerian content development, local capacity growth and increased participation of indigenous firms in the oil and gas value chain.
He identified vendor development, skills enhancement, technology transfer, local procurement and value retention as key areas of cooperation between both organisations.
In his remarks, Ogbe congratulated Falade on his appointment and assured him of the Board’s support.
The NCDMB boss said the relationship between the two organisations dates back several years, recalling that both parties signed a Service Level Agreement on Nigerian Content project approval timelines and compliance in June 2017.
Ogbe also urged NLNG to sustain its support for the Brass Shipyard project, describing it as a strategic capacity development initiative linked to the Train 7 project.
According to him, the project is expected to provide dry dock facilities for the oil and gas industry and create employment opportunities when completed.
The meeting formed part of NLNG’s engagement with industry stakeholders on issues relating to local content development and collaboration in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
