UNICEF says death of children in Borno “unacceptable”

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has condemned the death of three children and life threatening injuries caused by unexploded war in Borno state.
Reports had it that the innocent children as young as 12 years old who were playing on Mblu bridge in Ngala stumbled on the unexploded crisis which exploded, killing three and injuring many. In a press statement issued and signed by the Communication Officer of the Organisation,Folashade G.Adebayo weekend, described the death of the children through unexploded ordinance as “Unacceptable “regretting that children have been direct and indirect targets in conflicts.
It further stated that concerned authorities must rise to their responsibilities, noting that thousands of children have been killed, maimed, abducted, displaced and experienced multiple violations of their human rights in the North East.
