President Muhammadu Buhari has said that he wouldn’t allow a composition of evil forces in his administration, adding that the aim of such politicians is to attain political positions by inciting hate speech and fake news amongst Nigerians.
President Buhari disclosed this on Saturday at the graduation ceremony of the Senior Executive Course 40 of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, (NIPSS) in Kuru, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Buhari, represented by minister of defence, Mansur Dan-Ali, accused some politicians in the country of trying to destroy the peaceful coexistence in Nigeria.
“Let me assure you that we shall not allow few evil forces in our midst, whose only agenda is to attain political power by inciting hate and intolerance among the citizens.
“They exploit and manipulate the fault lines in the society to destroy our collective peace, mutual coexistence and social harmony, thinking that they will change the narrative; and the people would not ask them to account for what they looted from the common wealth,” the minister said.
Dan-Ali, while condemning the previous administration of poor handling of the Nigeria’s economy, however reiterated that the present economy under Buhari administration remains strongest economy in Africa.
“Nigeria remains the strongest economy in Africa, due to policies put in place by his administration in the last three and half years. This administration had inherited an economy in shambles, as a result of widespread corruption and mismanagement, compounded by a sharp drop in the prices of oil. But this government had developed and implemented some policies that had quickly gotten the country out of the difficult times.
“We have reduced rice importation by 90% and revived our capacity to produce fertilizer locally. Moreover, we have tremendously improved on our ranking in the ease of doing business by the World Bank. Our foreign reserve is now USD 44 billion, the highest in the last five years.
“The implication of these is that Nigeria remains the strongest economy on the African continent due to the policies put in place by this government,” he said.
