Yar’adua survives scare, retains APC ticket for Katsina Central Senate seat

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, on Monday led the consensus arrangement that alliwed incumbent Senator representing Katsina central, Colonel Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua (rtd), to fly the All Progressives Congress (APC) flag in the forthcoming general elections.

Yar’adua had faced mounting opposition due to allege poor performance but scaled through after stakeholders worked to douse tension and pacify aggrieved party members.

On Monday, his candidature was formally confirmed by party stakeholders, leaders, and supporters from across the zone in a show of unity and political cohesion.

Presenting the consensus candidate, the Chairman of the APC Electoral Committee from the party’s National Headquarters, Dr. Yakubu Maccido Ahmed, said the affirmation followed a unanimous agreement among stakeholders and aspirants within the zone.

“This outcome reflects the collective will of party leaders and members across Katsina Zone. It demonstrates the APC’s commitment to unity, internal cohesion, and strategic alignment ahead of the 2027 general elections,” he stated.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee for the Katsina Zone consensus exercise, Alhaji Yusuf Barmo, explained that the committee adopted the consensus option after extensive consultations with key stakeholders.

“All other aspirants voluntarily stepped down in support of Senator Yar’adua. This is a clear demonstration of political maturity and a shared commitment to the progress of our party,” he said.

He added that the decision was aimed at fostering unity within the APC and providing a stable platform for the serving senator to seek re-election unopposed.

“The consensus arrangement will also enable the senator to consolidate on his legislative contributions and effective representation of the zone,” Barmo noted.

Governor Radda was accompanied to the event by his Deputy, Malam Faruk Lawal Jobe, and his Chief of Staff, Hon. Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir.

Also in attendance were members of the National and State Assemblies, the Chairman of Katsina Local Government Area, Hon. Isah Miqdad, as well as other party leaders and stakeholders.
