Zamfara, humanitarian partners strengthen ties to aid vulnerable populations

In a renewed drive to cushion the impact of insecurity and socio-economic hardship, the Zamfara State Government has deepened its partnership with international development organizations and local stakeholders to streamline relief efforts for vulnerable communities across the state.
The commitment was reaffirmed during the Humanitarian Sector Monthly Coordination Meeting convened on Thursday in Gusau by the State Ministry of Humanitarian and Relief Matters.
The high-level session brought together key humanitarian partners, development agencies, and state actors to review the July 2026 Humanitarian Situation Report, assess ongoing sectoral interventions, and refine response mechanisms to ensure assistance reaches those most in need without duplication.
Commitment to Coordinated Reliefdeclaring the meeting open on behalf of the Commissioner for Humanitarian and Relief Matters, Salisu Musa Tsafe, the Acting Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Ummulkhairi Abubakar Usman, praised humanitarian actors for their steadfast dedication to supporting displaced and vulnerable populations.
Usman emphasized that a unified front between government institutions and aid agencies is critical for identifying urgent service gaps, improving resource allocation, and accelerating emergency response times. She further assured stakeholders that the Governor Dauda Lawal-led administration remains determined to guarantee a safe, enabling environment for humanitarian operations across all local government areas.
INGO Forum Commends State Leadership
Reaffirming their commitment, the representative of the Nigeria INGO Forum, Musa Baba, applauded the ministry’s proactive leadership in maintaining consistent coordination channels.
Baba noted that regular monthly engagements foster transparency, mutual accountability, and stronger operational synergy, pledging that international non-governmental organizations will continue working closely with the state government to deliver targeted, people-centered aid.
