From Ibrahim Sidi Muh’d, Gusau

The Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the 16th of August as the date to conduct a bye election for the seat of State Assembly at Kaura South to fill the lacuna created by the death of honorable member Aminu Ibrahim Kasuwar Daji.

Speaking at a State Stakeholders meeting on Tuesday at the INEC conference hall in Gusau, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr. Mahmuda Isah, said the bye election become necessary as a result of the passing on of the honorable member representing Kaura Namoda South State Constituency in Zamfara state House of Assembly on Wednesday 9th April 2025.

“Sequence of the reason mentioned, the Zamfara state House of Assembly Declared the Seat Vacant in line with provision of the constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999(As amended) through a letter to INEC Chairman Dated 16 April 2025.

“Accordingly, INEC in Discharge of its constitutional Duties to conduct elections, scheduled 16 August, 2025 as date for the election for Kaura Namoda South Constituency State Assembly election. A Formal Notice of election will be placed at INEC office Kaura Namoda and in 6 Registration Areas on 16th July 2025.

“The election will hold in 6 Registrations Areas with total number of Registered voters 59,496 which are as Follows, Banga, Dan-isa, Kagara, Kurya madaro, Kyambarawa and Sakajiki.
