Ahead of the 2023 general election, the Presidential Campaign Management Committee, PCMC, of the Peoples Democratic, Party, PDP, has declared that Nigeria can not afford to experiment with the next President of the country.
The Director of Strategic Communications of the PCMC of the PDP, Otunba Dele Momodu made the declaration yesterday while answering questions from Journalists in Abuja.
Otunba Momodu pointedly declared that Nigeria, in 2023, needs a man that can hit the man running from day one.
According to Momodu, “We (Nigerians) do not have time for experiments, we need a man that can hit the man running from day one.
“We need a man who knows every part of Nigeria.
“There is no candidate today who has had a National assignment among the candidates, maybe Kwankwaso as a minister.
“But we are talking about the the most experienced, most productive vice president like Atiku Abubakar, a man who has been able to employ young people from every parts of the country.
“His (Atiku’s) personal physician is Ibo, he has been with him for over 24 years.
“It is very easy to say I can do this and I can do that, but the person who can tell you what he can do is the person who has done it before in his private and public life. That is Atiku Abubakar”, he said.
Also, one of the spokespersons of the Atiku/Okowa presidential campaign committee, Mr Charles Aniagwu has said that the PDP presidential candidate,
Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa are very interested in recovering the country from its present worrisome state.
Aniagwu, who is also the Delta State Commissioner for Information, while answering questions from Journalists yesterday in Abuja, pointed out that the PDP and its leadership are very much concerned about the level of poverty in Nigeria.
He accused the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, of doing badly in trying to get the people out of the trenches.
According to Aniagwu, “The PDP and its leadership are very much concerned about the level of poverty in Nigeria and the APC administration is doing badly in trying to get our people out of the trenches.
“And we are going to give you the alternative to be able to reverse this trend.
“The latest is the change in the fall of our currency or whatever you may call it.
“A house is falling, instead of bringing people to take steps to restructure the house and make it stand, you decide to paint the house and think that is the solution to bring back the house to where it is.
“Our naira today, it has no value even in the hands of our people that is why we invited you. To let you know what is happening and what we are going to do to make it work.
“In spite of what you see as challenges in our party, that we are already moving on, the train has left the station which is why we are campaigning.
“We are the only party that has gone to three states to campaign officially. None of the other parties have been able to do that, it was only the other day that one of the parties met somewhere in Nasarawa and of course you saw what happened in terms of the gathering.
“So, if we are ready to move with the train, we are also ready, at any given time, to stop at relevant train station to pick up new passengers including those who are reluctant to join at the moment.
“So, the PDP is very ready to move ahead is not about the timeline because nothing is stopping us”, he said.
