The Minister of Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa,said if the National Assembly will approve 500billion Naira allocation of 2024 budget, his ministry in two years will return
300 billion back to the government by selling renewed hope cities even with little subsidy to the nation.
Dangiwa made this known during an oversight visit of
Senate Committee on Housing, Lands and Urban Development to the ministry yesterday.
He said apart from job creation, business are created and many people are out of poverty.
He emphasised that building collapses can be prevented by adhering to proper building regulations and employing qualified consultants.
“Building collapses often result from inadequate design. It is crucial to have a properly approved building plan and to use high-quality materials”.
Speaking further, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Housing and Habitat, Sen. Aminu Tambuwal, said the oversight visit underscores the Senate’s role in ensuring transparency and accountability in government spending .
Tambuwal explained that
according to the Constitution and Senate rules, all committees are tasked with monitoring the allocation and use of funds.
“Our visit to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development is part of our oversight function to ensure funds are properly utilized and projects are effectively implemented.”
