In a bid to make Abuja, the hub of tourism and other economic activities in the country, Abuja Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ABUCCIMA) is partnering with a South African investors to build a seven-star hotel and modern shopping mall in city.

The projects, to be sited within the 31-hectare of Jeremiah Useni International Trade Fair Complex, along Airport Road, Abuja, would be the biggest in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

According to the ABUCCIMA President, Mr. Solomon Nyagba, who disclosed this yesterday, the projects when completed would also create employment opportunities for the people.

He spoke at a press conference, ahead of the 9th Abuja International Trade Fair, billed to hold later this year; from September 23 to October 6.

Nyagba said the Abuja Chamber would also build a convention centre and a world-class trade exhibition centre in the FCT.

“The ground-breaking ceremony of the project is expected to hold before the end of this year.

“Due to the strategic location of this complex, we are hoping that when we finish the projects, it will shift focus from the city centre which is becoming choked with economic activities,’’ he said.

The president noted that the construction of the complex, which will be through a public Private Partnership, is intended to ensure the revolution of commerce in Abuja and Nigeria in general.

He adds: “We are fortunate that the Abuja Chamber of Commerce has been given the free hand to bring about the permanent center for trade fairs by the Minister and indeed Nigeria.”
