The leadership crisis rocking the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has escalated, with a faction loyal to David Mark formally approaching the judiciary for urgent resolution.
In a letter dated April 28, the group called on the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayode Ariwoola, to facilitate an accelerated hearing at the Supreme Court over the protracted dispute.
The faction specifically urged the CJN to constitute a panel of the apex court to promptly hear and determine the matter, citing growing uncertainty within the party.
According to the group, the lingering legal battle over the party’s leadership has continued to disrupt internal cohesion and weaken preparations for future political engagements.
“The continued delay in resolving this dispute is detrimental to the party and its members nationwide,” the letter stated, stressing the need for urgent judicial intervention.
The appeal underscores mounting pressure on the judiciary to bring clarity to the leadership tussle, which has seen multiple factions lay claim to the party’s structure and control, further complicating the ADC’s position ahead of the 2027 political cycle.
