A group, the Association of Non-Indigenes for Governor Uba Sani, has declared its intention to mobilise support across Kaduna State for the re-election of Governor Uba Sani in the 2027 governorship poll.

The group made the declaration on Tuesday during a courtesy visit to the Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr Sule Shu’aibu (SAN), who is also the association’s patron.

Speaking on behalf of the group, its Convener, Chief Johnny Nwankwere, said the association was established to unite non-indigenous communities behind the governor’s second-term bid.

He said members would embark on mobilisation campaigns across the state, urging residents to embrace peaceful coexistence and support the governor during the next election.

Nwankwere also disclosed plans to organise a road rally later this month and appealed for support, including branded materials and logistics for the event.

He added that the association was willing to collaborate with the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs on intelligence gathering and conflict prevention.

Responding, Shu’aibu said the state government had recorded improvements in security since the present administration assumed office in May 2023, attributing the development to what he described as the Kaduna Peace Model.

According to him, the improved security situation has made movement easier along major routes within the state, including the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari road, while commercial activities have resumed in some previously troubled areas.

The commissioner also said the reopening of the Kara International Cattle Market in Birnin Gwari, which had remained shut for more than a decade due to insecurity, reflected the changing security situation.

He further claimed that the United Kingdom had reviewed Kaduna’s security classification from “red” to “amber”, while ongoing infrastructure projects were benefiting from the improved security environment.

Shu’aibu urged members of the association to continue promoting peaceful coexistence in their communities and encouraged residents to provide security agencies with useful information to tackle criminal activities.
