Court sentences 19 year-old man for trespass, attempt to commit theft

A 19 year-old man, Sheriff Buba of Nasarawa ward in Damaturu, Yobe state capital, has been sentenced by the Senior Magistrate Court 11, presided over by Gambo A. Ibrahim, on two count charges of criminal trespass and attempt to commit theft.

Prosecutor Cpl. Zakar Saleh Lampo told the court that, on or about October 20, 2014, at about 16.40 hours, the accused person criminally trespassed into a shop located opposite First Bank, Gashua road, Damaturu, belonging to one Mudassir Habibu, of Sabon Fegi ward, Damaturu without the consent of the owner, with the intent to commit an offence, to wit, theft.

The Prosecutor told court that the offences committed by the accused person are punishable under sections 352 and 95 of the penal code law.

The accused person after conviction by the court was sentenced to two years imprisonment for the first count of criminal trespass, while on the offence of attempt to commit theft, he was sentenced to six months imprisonment or to pay a fine of N15, 000.
