The South-west Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Leadership Forum has urged the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to dismiss the purported suspension of the Zonal Chairman of the party, Chief Ishola Filani.

The South-West PDP leaders after a meeting recently said their intervention was geared towards discouraging any form of crisis within the party in the south-west ahead of the 2015 general election.

The PDP leaders during their meeting held at the NICON Hotel Abuja had dismissed Filani’s suspension by some party leaders in the zone on the ground that such was illegal.

The convener of the meeting, Chief Olabode George, said those who suspended Filani lacked the power to do so because the constitution of PDP stipulates that only the National Executive Council (NEC) of PDP has such power.

According to him, those who suspended the PDP south-west Caretaker Chairman failed to explore the normal channel of effecting such action since they did not lodge a formal complaint against him before announcing his suspension.

George stressed that Filalni’s suspension at this time is capable of disrupting the fragile peace reigning in the party in the region.

Speaking in the same vein, the PDP chairman in Ondo state, Ebenezer Alade said all south-west chairmen of the party were shocked by the report on Filani’s suspension published in some national dailies most recently.
