The Kaduna State Branch of the Association of Radiographers of Nigeria (ARN) celebrated World Radiography Day 2025 with a series of events that underscored the vital role radiographers play in healthcare.

Guided by the theme, “Empowering Healthcare Through Imaging Excellence,” the association organized various activities, including a medical outreach program, school visits, media engagements, and a scientific conference.

The medical outreach, held at Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital, ABUTH, Marshuaib Diagnostic Kaduna, and Hazah Diagnostic Zaria, offered free ultrasound scans to the public.

Rad. Ahmad Adamu, Chairman of ARN’s Kaduna State Branch, emphasized the association’s dedication to community service and healthcare advancement, stating, “This initiative provided much-needed medical assistance to patients and highlighted the importance of radiography in diagnosis and treatment.”

Adamu also underscored the significance of encouraging young people, especially women, to consider radiography as a career. “Involving secondary schools in the celebration is an opportunity to inspire the next generation of radiographers,” he remarked.

Rad. Mahdi Shuaibu, the association’s Treasurer, referred to radiography as the “eyes of medical practice” and urged governments and stakeholders to establish more radiography units in public hospitals. This, he said, would help meet the growing demand for services and reduce the cost of diagnoses for patients.

The celebration included visits to secondary schools, where students were educated about radiography as a potential career path.

The President of the Association of Radiography Students at Kaduna State University and his counterpart from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, expressed gratitude for the primary association’s involvement in providing practical exposure and career development opportunities for students.

Rad. Adamu extended his gratitude to the Central Organizing Committee and volunteers for their tireless efforts in ensuring the event’s success. He expressed hope for continued collaboration to advance the field of radiography.
