In a rare gesture to mark the 2024 Independence Day celebration, Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano state on Tuesday announced the adoption of 95 orphans in the state.
The Governor’s remarkable kindness and magnanimity was demonstrated during a special lunch with the lucky children presently under the care of the Kano State Orphanage Home, where they have lived since they lost their biological parents.
In a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Governor Yusuf declared that henceforth he will take full responsibility of the adopted 95 orphans, including their education.
According to him, “I want to announce that we have assumed full responsibility of all the 95 orphans domiciled in this facility, we will take care of their education from primary to tertiary, healthcare services, feeding and other social needs throughout my tenure”.
Governor Yusuf assured that as long as he is in office, the orphans would be treated as very important personalities with full benefit, care and privileges; adding that the state government will accord the children opportunity to attain their full potentials in life.
The statement further revealed that the home which was established 54 years ago was for the first time witnessing the kind gesture Governor Yusuf offered when he spent quality time with the orphaned children.
“You are now my children, I will take care of you as my own; you will begin to feel the good side of life in sha Allah” the Governor assured.
The statement added that the governor equally donated food items worth millions of naira for the welfare, safety and food security for the orphanage home.
