The Deputy Senate President, Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege, representing Delta Central Senatorial district, has explained the reasons why oil bearing communities lost the demand for 5 percent in the Petroleum Industry Bill.
He stated that Senate had to settle for 3 percent allocation for oil bearing Communities otherwise known as host Communities because Senators from the Niger Delta were outvoted during the PIB debate, stressing that the 3 percent, did not reflect his wish.
Omo-Agege said this while fielding questions from newsmen on Friday in Benin City, Edo State Capital
He, however, urged stakeholders and Nigerians who have misgivings about approved 3 percent allocation to “look at the future with a whole lot of hope and optimism for a better deal”.
