Sokoto State Police Command says several bandits were neutralised in a combined security operation in Tureta local government area of the state on Sunday.
The combined operation, which include police personnel, the military and local vigilance members, repelled attacks by terrorists on communities in Tureta LGA.
Several of the terrorists were also injured in the encounter, the spokesperson of the Command, DSP Ahmad Rufai, confirmed to our Correspondent in a telephone interview on Monday.
He however said that some policemen were injured and two lost their lives.
The spokesperson gave the names of the deceased personnel as Inspector Redmo Ijenwa and PC Nura Muhammad.
He said that the body of late Nura Muhammad has been released to his relatives for burial according to Islamic rites in his hometown in Kebbe Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
According to him, the remains of late Inspector Redmo Ijenwa had been deposited at a morgue in Sokoto.
