Unidentified hoodlums kidnap Kogi Speaker’s children in Kogi

Some identified hoodlums, suspected to be kidnappers, in the wee hours of yesterday invaded the country home of the Speaker of Kogi state House of Assembly, Alhaji Momoh-Jimoh Lawal and kidnapped two of his children.

As at the time of filing this report, there were no traces as to locate the early morning raiders, neither have the kidnappers identified themselves for dialogue.

Peoples Daily gathered that the alleged kidnappers, at about 4 am yesterday scaled the security fence and broke into the Speaker’s house, at Okengwe in Okene local government area and made away with their prey without resistance from any quarters.

The hoodlums, who made away with other valuables, were said to have demanded for the children, seven-year-old Ogirima and Hafeez, three years

Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Mr. Austin Akubo told journalists that three of the suspected kidnappers entered the house but could not ascertain how many they were.

The CPS listed items taken away with the children to include a television set, generator, a Toyota Yaris saloon car belonging to the wife of the Speaker and N20,000 in cash.

Akubo said that the incident was promptly reported to the police and other security agencies in the state.

He added that the kidnappers were yet to open communication with the family on their demands.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Kogi command, Mr. Emeka Emeh also confirmed the incident, saying that the police would leave no stone unturned in their bid to recover the children.

Emeh assured that the Okene Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and the Area Commander were on the trail of the kidnappers with a view to apprehending them soon.
