After months of speculation, the Deputy Minority Leader of the Senate, Emmanuel Bwacha yesterday defected from his former party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the governing All Progressives Congress (APC).

Senator Bwacha who represents Taraba South Senatorial District in the red chamber, was officially received into the party by President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja.

The lawmaker was received by both the President and the Chairman of the APC Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee(CECPC), Governor Mala Buni of Yobe State.

Personal Assistant to President Buhari on Digital and New Media, Bashir Ahmad, disclosed this in a tweet on his official Twitter handle.

“The Senate Deputy Minority Leader, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the governing party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“The president has welcomed him this afternoon in Abuja,” he wrote.

With this development, Senator Bwacha joins the likes of senators Stella Oduah, Elisha Abbo, Peter Nwabaoshi, Muhammed Hasaan, who have joined the APC.

Others who left the PDP for the ruling party are Sahabi Ya’u (Zamfara North) and Lawali Anka (Zamfara West).
